Abstract: This research attempts to provide an analytical overview of higher education system in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan’s locally strategic importance, the biggest population and the biggest proportion of aged under 25 in the Central Asian region make it important to consider the system which is responsible for nurturing. However, the amount of research done in higher education of Uzbekistan is rather scarce. This thesis will introduce recent reforms and changes in Uzbek higher education and will depict problems and challenges currently present in the system. The conducted interviews and various reports on higher education reveals that corruption in the system has become accustomed and is the cause of the existing problems in higher education.
